This has got to be one of my favourite fashion discoveries this year; the V by Very AW16 Collection.
Normally when I shop on very.co.uk, I buy homeware delights and never really considered it as a strong contender to fill my seasonal wardrobe… that was until I clapped eyes on their latest range (and lust-after fashionista and Strictly star, Daisy Lowe, is also the face of the campaign) .
There are so many beautiful pieces – and it’s not just me who’s loving it, British Vogue has also picked up on this absolute gem of a collection. See the feature in their supplement with this month’s (November 2016) issue – but if you can’t get to the shops quick enough, it’s OK, you can see their recommendations in fully glory here.
So, I packed a suitcase and did what I love to do best; a good ole little photoshoot. We had so much fun…
The location: a creative workspace with a touch of magic. We headed to the incredible WeWork in Paddington, London (WeWork have offices all over the world – check it out, they’re awesome). Their offices are themed ever so differently, with the aim to inspire. Imagine having ‘swings’ in a meeting room? Yeah that happened… and one of my happiest places was the toilet, as the walls were covered with flamingoes (I’m sure many of you will agree with me).
I’ve also got a little surprise in-store for you…
This has got to be one of my favourite photoshoots. Not only because I had the best day, but also because pretty much 90% of what I’m wearing has been made by my amazingly talented, and just generally glorious, friends.
Accompanied with the perfect setting; we headed on a moody British summer’s day to the mystical Nunhead Cemetery (also known as one of Southwark’s hidden treasures) in London. I felt the luckiest girl in the world as Julia of CrownJules and Trudy of Trudy Elizabeth styled me up a dream.
We’re talking big hats, statement skirts, sizzling silky numbers, and the most incredible multi-tasking jewels. This was a serious case of playing dress-up (something a girl never grows out of) and I’m also honoured to make a debut for new-to-watch-brand, Prophecy the label – trust me, you will want to know about this.
I’m thrilled with the results, I hope you love this post too!
Last night, hundreds of us piled into the National Portrait Gallery to celebrate a special event, The Late Shift Extra: Vogue 100 After Hours.
I was there with the girls for a truly magical evening; full of inspiration, and a trip down memory lane. As well as enjoying the exhibition itself, Vogue 100: A Century of Style – showcasing an array of Vogue covers (with lots of: “Oh yeah, I remember that cover” moments) and the most divine, and captivating, fashion photography – with some extras thrown in too.
We listened to a talk with British Vogue’s Picture Editor, Mike Trow, on how he sets the vision and direction behind a Vogue photoshoot. Central St Martins’ students treated us to a live catwalk show through the gallery. MAC Cosmetics gave us a pop of colour with their lipstick make-up stations. We hung out with Kate Middleton (well, with her portrait #squadgoals). Drank delicious bubbles from the speakeasy bar, and starred in our very own photoshoot in the Out of Order photo-theatre.
So much fun to be had… Here’s a little photo diary of what we got up to.
Happy spring time! It’s got me thinking about holidays… One of my new year’s resolutions this year was to travel more and discover new places.
First up, I’ve just booked flights to go to Coachella. I have never been to the iconic Arts and Music Festival (think Glastonbury in the middle of the desert) or California, so I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am 🙂
Every holiday, I always have a trusty travel companion that comes with me; my Smythson travel wallet. Personalised SMC, just for me, this wallet keeps all my valuables in good order and works as a nifty, and beautiful, clutch bag too. Multi-tasking at its finest.
My hair routine usually consists of throwing my head upside down, quick blast with the hairdryer for 10mins, a generous ruffle, and away I go. For special occasions, or just for a little boost, I treat myself to a blow dry. My hair dries polka straight naturally, so to get curls and bounce is a real skill, which I’m yet to master… In steps The Bardou.
Love a blow dry too? Well, if you haven’t heard of The Bardou already, it’s definitely time now. Their unique concept of ‘pop up anywhere, at anytime’ pop-up salons means they’re bringing us the most beautiful blow dries and the best experiences in the most sought-after locations.
Endorsed by celebrity hairdresser Adee Phelan (remember The Salon reality show? SO good!) – he’s planning to expand the concept across the UK and Europe, and has just recently opened a salon in Marbella.
Note for your diaries: Are you free next weekend, 2nd April? Their is a special event to attend, and everyone’s invited!
Two wonderful years ago, my darling friend Trudy suggested that I should start blogging about my personal style and from there, the Style Files were born (cheers Trudes!) – and I promise so many more will be coming in 2016 too.
Trudy is a keen photographer – shooting the majority of my style files – and bless her, she has taught me so much. I have now invested in my very own Canon DSLR and cannot wait to get snapping.
To my greatest surprise, Trudy booked us a photoshoot at Vanity Studios in London (mainly because she was approached by one of their sales reps on Oxford Street and just couldn’t say no 😉 But now, I’m so glad she didn’t) to give us both some photography experience, teach us a trick or two and ultimately, get some inspiration. I have to say, I was pretty chuffed with the results.
A super fun girls day out, which exceeded all my expectations and more. Here’s the lowdown of our experience and the pictures we chose to keep in the end.
The first of its kind; Glamour magazine took over the Saatchi Gallery in London – with their trusty partners Fiat – to host their Glamour Beauty Festival, dubbing it as a ‘beauty theme park’.
Thousands of readers flocked (including myself) to the Chelsea venue to discover the latest beauty innovations, trends, products and an array of activities for us all to enjoy – they kept us occupied for HOURS.
We watched talks from industry experts, beauty insiders and special celebrity guests (including David Gandy, he’s one of my favourites) and were treated to some glorious pamper time – and were given the goodiest of goodie bags with our tickets.
Now strap up, and enjoy the (beauty theme park) ride; here’s a little photo diary to whizz you through my day…
