So, as we’ve seen from London Fashion Week SS16, the 70’s trend is well and truly here to stay – if you haven’t done so already, it’s time to invest in those key staples right now. But before we carried away with SS16, it’s time to hang-fire, embrace and fall in love the new season: Hello Autumn.
I do absolutely love, love, love autumn. September is my birthday month (true story) and for all its pretty colours, I always get completely consumed by the beautiful ever-changing leaves in the park, and the fresh, crisp, air – aaah – and what else? An excuse to buy a whole new wardrobe, of course.
Hunting for that said dream autumn wardrobe, I discovered Warehouse’s Fall Collection for AW15. Yes I know, that dress. Here are my top picks from the collection, tips for AW15 trends and I’ve styled up my five favourite outfits too. 8 sleeps till payday…
1. Bohemian Chic
The glorious thing about this dress is that you can completely dress it up or down. Today, I’ve gone for the latter, simply because it’s raining outside and I want to feel snuggly. Introducing a new shearling addition, this gorgeous gilet – teamed with a tassel bag for perfect bohemian vibes. I’m especially loving these hook earrings (how fierce are they?!) too.
Finish the look with these awesome suede boots, or, if you’re heading somewhere more fancy – leave the gilet and boots at home, and go for these sexy little t bar strappy sandals instead.
Tip: High slits are still very much on trend for SS16. See Topshop Unique & Versus Versace.
L-R: Paisley Maxi Dress, Brown Fringed Suede Crossbody Bag, Suede Toscana Gilet, Stone Hook Earrings, Stone Set Ring, Suede Buckled Heeled Boot, Hook Detail Bangle.
2. 70’s Dreams
Tell me about it, stud… This studded skirt gives off an understated rock-esque elegance, and the print on this blouse makes me so happy. I can’t stop gazing at it. Switching up the suede boots, this time in black – with a matching fold over clutch/crossbody bag – and this statement stone ring is not to be reckoned with. Channel your inner-Céline with this circle hair clip, inspired by the designer’s must-have Barrette hair clip for SS15. Style your hair ‘half up, half down’ to nail the look – messier the better. Cheerio bad hair days… TTFN.
Need I say more? YOU are the 70’s dream.
Tip: The circle of love – circle accessories are a big thing right now. Trust me, now I’ve told you – you’ll keep seeing circles… Did someone say, Carven? BIG circles, huge.
L-R: Tapestry Print Blouse, Faux Leather Studded Skirt, Textured Circle Hair Clip, Suede Buckled Heeled Boot, Suede and Leather Crossbody Bag, Oval Stone Statement Ring.
3. Kick Back Flares
I ♡ flares! It takes me back to my youth (am I revealing my age too much?). My mother always referred to them as my ‘bell bottoms’, which is definitely still a term for them, it just makes me chuckle. Anyway, that’s a completely different story…
Forever reign in the style stakes with this simple and classic look. I’ve styled this lovely pair of flares with a polo neck jumper – a key staple for AW15 – striking a wonderful balance between ease and femininity. Accessorise with rich tan hues to give the outfit extra edge. Everyone will want to try on your hat, and I want to wear this tassel long necklace with EVERYTHING.
Tip: Find a polo neck jumper you love? Buy it in every colour. Check out DKNY, Victoria Beckham and Hermes for more high-neck creations.
L-R: Cream Ribbed Polo Jumper, Kick Flare Jeans, Raw Edge Fedora, Suede Flat Ankle Boots, Bar and Tassel Long Necklace, Hook Detail Bangle, Tab Pocket Crossbody Bag.
4. Autumn Bliss
Dream, dream, dream. Don’t these colours just make you want to melt? Inject some pastels into this autumnal world of joy… Fresh, bright and simply stunning. Diamantés are definitely a girls best friend (in this case) as we’re loving this sumptuous, boxy cut funnel neck jumper – accompanied by this knitted grey pencil skirt for super allure. Hang on a minute, are you seeing more circles? Told you…
Tip: Embellishment is definitely on the menu for AW15 (Givenchy, anyone?). Don’t hold back, bling it up and sparkle bright ladies.
L-R: Embellished Funnel Neck Jumper, Wrap Tie Knitted Skirt, Disc Detail Clutch, Stone Set Ring, Chunky Heel Court Shoes, Pretty Stone Stud Earrings, Circle Chain 3 Row Bracelet.
5. Office Bow
Now this is getting serious. Big exaggerated pussy cat bows and simple black skinny scarves are making their way round on the bloggers circuit, and it’s time for us to get involved.
This really cute blouse and wide leg trouser combo will make your work ensemble look so good that you’ll be excited to go to work. Yes, really. Punch it up with a touch of plum to shake things up a little.
