Last weekend I was in for a real treat. I attended the Fashion Scout showcase at London Fashion Week – an event to champion the next generation of fashion talent – up & coming designers presenting their collections in the most enchanting settings, to an audience with high hopes and the hugest anticipation.
Set free in the Freemason’s Hall in London, I was privileged to have access all areas – I headed backstage to see the models, the clothes, the hair, the makeup and watched Youjia Jin’s AW15 show (offering the most sublime tailoring with a quirky twist)… before being pampered in true LFW style by The Body Shop UK.
If you had to choose one woman that inspires you, who would it be?
I’m seriously loving Atterley Road’s #ARWoman campaign right now. Their aim: women to openly celebrate other women, through the power of Instagram.
I’m in, I’m joining the conversation…
Love hearts, lips, flowers and cupid arrows… what more does a girl want on Valentine’s weekend? ♡
With that in mind, this was the inspiration for my outfit – and I thought what a perfect way to kick-start my first blog for 2015 – styled and uploaded with love, I’m so excited to be back!
Smythson holds my heart in the stationery space. They’re quintessentially British (founded in London, 1887), their luxury goods are bursting with colour – guaranteed to brighten up every single day – and they brought us ‘The Fashion Diary’.
My Fashion Diary was one of my favourite Christmas presents last year, and my loyal go-to throughout 2014 (especially when my iPhone decided to crash, you can’t beat a good old-fashioned paper diary to come to the rescue). Plus I just love writing in a diary – and ticking off my to-do lists – it just feels good. Are you with me?
I’m also completely in love with their super cute notebooks and address books as well – so many colours, so many messages – I want them ALL.
My new year’s resolution for 2015: to blog more (YES!) and travel more. Their passport covers, ticket holders and large totes are seriously divine too.
So much choice… I’ll definitely be having a special word with Santa. And just to help him out (because I’m good like that – hint, hint) I’ve listed all my Smythson favourites here ☞
Meet my trusty new winter companion – guaranteed to warm the cockles of your heart and bring so much happiness to your day – Wilbur the Whale.
I first featured this beautiful (and super cute) lambswool-blend knit Wilbur jumper in my Woo Hot Seat with the lovely Robyn Heald, fashion designer at Quba & Sails. I was absolutely overjoyed when she surprised me with him for my birthday! Lucky woo ♥
Wearing him with pride, Wilbur and I took a little stroll down the River Thames in London. We’re definitely set for a wooly wonderful season together 😉
Christmas is coming! 46 magical sleeps away – true story – and this week I’ve started to feel very festive. The cold, crisp, fresh air, keeping toasty in my favourite winter woolies, and making sure to keep my skin moisturised too (think Christmas party frocks, ladies!). Bring on the body butter.
I’m an absolute sucker for a Body Shop body butter (wahey, poet!) at the best of times, but especially at Christmas. Previously they’ve offered us delicious, mouthwatering treats such as cranberry and chocolate orange and this year, I’m super excited about their latest addition, the Glazed Apple Body Butter. I’ve tried it, and I’m in love. Apple and spice, and all things nice…
Self-admittedly, I am a coffee snob. That first cup of coffee in the morning, can make or break my day.
I’m easily pleased, all I want from my morning mug is straight up coffee with a splash of milk (being barista correct: regular americano with milk, please) no sugar, no frothy milk or chocolate sprinkles – just good, solid, aromatic coffee.
For this, my co-workers know me well. Nothing comes between me and the cafetiere when I first arrive to the office. If they’re lucky, they might even get a cheeky cup. So my co-worker (and awesome friend, especially after this) introduced me to Pact Coffee. And what a beautiful day that was.
OK, so these pictures were taken a couple of weeks ago, before it turned MINUS FIVE last week – where did winter suddenly come from?! Brrr… Well, I guess it’s October, and we’ve been pretty lucky with our British weather this year. And I do love the fresh, crisp air that autumn brings, and the beautiful colours of the trees, so I’m a happy woo (and the excuse to buy a new coat too! Yesss..)
Next week, I promise to bring you some wonderfully chic, autumn/winter outfits. Saying that, did you know we’re in for 20°C sunshine this weekend? It’s not time to put your shades away just yet, but maybe the crop tops 😉
When I was asked if I would like to style a hair show, I absolutely jumped at the chance and especially for the opportunity to collaborate with the very talented, Anthony Kinsey O’Kelly of Vidal Sassoon.
From creating on-the-spot dresses, to sewing models straight into their outfits, it was a challenge I didn’t know I was even capable of, and we did it! 🙂 It was one of my most favourite experiences and the quickest five hours of my life. Here’s a journal of how Anthony and I came up with the idea, from design (including getting very handy with some spray paint) to show time >> and a lovely little video for you to watch too. Good times.
It’s the weekend, life’s amazing and this September sunshine is DAZZLING. Today, I took to the rooftop for a mini-twirl in our mini-garden (can you see it? 🙂 ) in a blooming beautiful dress. Happy days… Roll on floral fantasies.
Fashion: Lashes Contrast Print Trapeze Dress; House of Fraser, round black & gold sunglasses; Zara, neon yellow and sparkle necklace; Accessorize, black criss-cross sparkle shoes; & other stories, chunky gold bangle & turquoise blue stone ring; both H&M
Sundays. This Sunday was a special Sunday. Alarm set and coffee brewed by 8.30am, even a friend got an early morning phone call (yes, she was surprised too) – I was far too excited – Altuzarra for Target had officially arrived in the UK.
French magnifique meets American chic, as Parisian-born designer Joseph Altuzarra brings a limited edition collection to the US retailer, aiming to “instill a feeling of power, confidence and beauty in women everywhere.” Sounds good to me. Especially after a good cup of coffee. Let’s do this…
In the Woo Hot Seat this week, we have fashion designer Robyn Heald.
I remember the butterflies I got when I first saw Robyn’s creations at Graduate Fashion Week. I knew from that moment, she would go on to do amazing things.
There, she was spotted by talent scouts from Abercrombie & Fitch, who jetted her off to work in their headquarters in Ohio, USA. Then, she was head-hunted by our British equivalent, Jack Wills, designing everything from jumpers to underpants (we can only imagine the fit model sessions) and has recently embarked on her next exciting venture.
Now embracing the best of both worlds – life in the city and the beach – Robyn lives in the bustling and super-trendy delights of East London, and commutes to the idyllic shores of Salcombe in Devon, to design the womenswear offering for nautical-inspired leisurewear company Quba & Co.
Read all about Robyn’s journey as a fashion designer, what inspires her and being on location at Quba & Co’s AW14 photoshoot (and meet Wilbur the whale too!) Ahoy, sailor.
This weekend, I had the luxury of going on a little holiday to Surrey (OK, so it’s only an hour out of London but still…) very green, very picturesque and completely charming – and the beautiful bonus – I got to see two of my favourite people get married. The special occasion was held at the absolutely gorgeous, Gate Street Barn. Here’s what I wore on the day 🙂
Flower power meets disco-chic. I don’t know what I am more dazzled by, the striking print on this truly tropical jumpsuit, or the amazing location – the ‘bubble wrap lighting’ on London’s Southwark Street – either way, we’re definitely ready for sunshine and bright lights. Disco, DISCO…
