Last weekend I was in for a real treat. I attended the Fashion Scout showcase at London Fashion Week – an event to champion the next generation of fashion talent – up & coming designers presenting their collections in the most enchanting settings, to an audience with high hopes and the hugest anticipation.
Set free in the Freemason’s Hall in London, I was privileged to have access all areas – I headed backstage to see the models, the clothes, the hair, the makeup and watched Youjia Jin’s AW15 show (offering the most sublime tailoring with a quirky twist)… before being pampered in true LFW style by The Body Shop UK.
The outfit
I wore a cream Zara midi dress, a rich berry burgundy textured coat from New Look (it’s so cosy, I feel like a teddy bear) and my new WEMER lace up Oxford shoes by Jessica Buurman. Teamed with a handy go-to black shopper handbag, to carry round all my goodies for the day.
The show: Youjia Jin AW15
Youjia Jin is a Chinese born, London based fashion designer. The inspiration behind her AW15 collection was a mix of the designer’s interpretation of ‘Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, injected with a warped twist’ and ‘the modern female, living in a modern fairytale,’ says Jin.
I loved seeing how Jin ramped up timeless, classic tailoring with extravagant frills, bows and trails… topped with crisp white chokers (my fave) and sharp shirts.
The make-up was just stunning; dewy and mysterious.

Backstage
I headed backstage to check out all the chaos, the clothes, and models in full LFW action.
The make-up & hair teams were fully equipped to beautify the (already extremely beautiful) models. Surprisingly, the room was remarkably calm… I believe it was a very different story 10 minutes earlier!
Capturing the magic, I am absolutely in love with photo of the model (bottom right), if I do say so myself 🙂 Gorgeous…
Pamper me happy
The Body Shop know how to put on a good do, and they truly pampered me LFW style.
LOOK at that treasure cove of make-up!? I could have stayed and played for hours… I had my make-up done by the lovely Hannah. I asked if she could give me a lip colour that matched my berry coat – Hannah was completely dedicated to the challenge, and mixed two of their lipstick shades for me, 335 Hot Date (yes please!) and 340 Berry Me. Result.
The very creative and super talented Nails by Mets gave me some of her finest nail art with The Body Shop’s Colour Crush nail polish collection. Filled with love, she used 110 Crimson Crush for the deep berry base (again to match my coat, of course) topped with 810 Frosting Fancy (and I did feel fancy) snowy white hearts ♡♡
I caught up with beauty & skincare guru (and a fabulous fellow northerner!) Caroline Hirons. She gave me her magical pearls of wisdom on all things beauty and blogging – watch this space – Caroline, I promise to do you proud!
So there you go. Thank you to The Body Shop UK & Fashion Scout for an incredible day… I thoroughly enjoyed myself and can’t wait to see the next wave of hot emerging talent next season… and how many lipstick shades it takes to match my coat 😉
Psst.. from what I hear, The Body Shop is bringing out lots of new collections this year. So if you’re a big Body Shop fan like me, prepare to get excited!
